BOROUGH COUNCILS.
NEW BRIGHTON. At the New Brighton Borough Council meeting the town clerk reported that the dr. bal_noe at the'bank was now £234 Is 9d. The report showed that the rates had been promptly paid this year, and there was now only the sum of £40 owing. The Works Committee suggested that the east side of George street and the south side of High street should be kerbed. It was resolved to defer the suggestion in regard to George street, as there was a probability of the levels being altered. H. Greenfield was appointed dog ranger for the next year. The secretary of the New Brighton School Committee wrote, complaining of a nuisance at the school. Th© Council's inspector reported that he had visited the school that morning, and could find no cause for complaint, and it was decided to ask the School Committee to specify the nuisance. Only one tender had been received for the supply of Portland cement, and the action of the Chairman of the Works Committee in accepting same at 13s 6d per cask was approved. It was decided to hold a special meeting of the Council to amend the District Electors' List on Wednesday, the 25th inst. It was resolved to call for tenders for the formation and claying of a portion of Bowhill street.
