THE AUSTRALIAN SQUADRON.

Him Majestv'a Australian Squadron is expected to reacli Lyttelton early on Friday morning. According to presert arrangements the Admiral, presumedly after his official reception by the Mayor of Lyttelton, will leave by special train for Dunedin about 1 p.m., and remain there for Saturday and Sunday.. The ball to -he Admiral and offioers takes place on Tuesday. On Monday a number of the sailors mid marines will land and go through some drill evolutions in Hagley Park. It is understood that the • fleet leaves' on the Thursday following. Stune discussion has taken place as to the pi-opoeal to hold the naval parade in Haglev Park, it being objected that only a limited number of the public will be able to see the evolutioas, owing to the flatness of the .ground. At tho same time it was felt to be inexpedient to hire a more suitable place, and make a charge for admission. What seems a very excellent way out of the difficulty is an offer by the Lancaster Park Company to give the free use of their ground en Monday next for the parade. A meeting of the Citizens' Committee ia to be held at the City Council Library at 3.30 p.m. to-day, to consider the question. (SPECIAL TO "THE PRESS.") DUNEDIN, Marcli 17Preparations for the reception of the Admiral on his arrival on Friday- evening, are now complete.
