DEAN'S WAXWORKS
Thre was an excellent attendance at the initial exl_bition, in this city, of Dean _ Waxworks at the Oddfellows' Hall last night. The figures shown are those of well-known personages and celebrities, the group depicting members of the Royal family, and including the late Queen Victoria," King Edward the Seventh, Queen Alexandra, and the Prince and Princess of Wales being very life-like. Amongst other interesting figures are those of Paul Kruger, Viscount Kitchener, Lord Wolseley, Madame Melba, Lily Langtry, Madame Tussaud and others. Other attractions in thus part of the exhibition are a number of slot machines and a series of pictures illustrating tlie navy. An interesting variety programme was also presented, which was of a bright and entertaining character, and which fully justified the claim of the management that the entertainment is free from anything offensive or suggestive. Mr Dean's items were excellently rendered, and were well received. Mi_ s Ethel Uwynn _ was successful in her songs and dances) and Mr M. Hagan and _ lies Lucy Fraser gave a very amusing sketch. The Mahers were good in their dances, and were encored. Rexo did some clever balancing, and Mr Fraser -Shaw contributed two songs, with illustrations, very acceptably. .A number of interesting pictures were shown by the Edisonograph. To-night the same programme will be repeated.
