MR CHAMBERLAIN'S RETURN.
HIS SOUTH AFRICAN SPEECHES.
CABLE NEWS.
United Press Association—By Eleotrio Tel egraph—Copyri jht. March 17th. 11.32 p.m.) LONDON, March 17. Mr Chamberlain, received great ovations iv the House of Common . Mr Ellis suggested that an official report be iiwued of the seventy speeches he made in South Africa. Mr Chamberlain replied that the speeches had not been revised, and had better wait. If any speech were asked for he would be glad to consider the matter. Mr J. E. Ellis, Radical member for the Rushcliife division of Nottingham was a member of the famous South Africa Committee. He was highly respected in the House, but rather tarnished his reputation for fairness by a letter written in the early, stages of the war to a Mra Solly in South Africa, in which he asked for a "stream of facts " about the alleged harsh and unjust conduct of British officers in youth Africa "for Parliamentary purposes." Mr Ellis's pro-Boerism was, however, confined to his own country; he did not, a_ did other members of the House, enter into communication with the Boei_ . It ia unlikely that his desire for the publication of Mr Cliaiuberlain'a speeches is due to his admiration for that gentleman.
