FLORAL FETE.
A meeting of the General Committee at the Floral Febe was held yesterday afteiPnoon, at tlie City Council-Chambers, when Hun. C I_»_is__a presided. There wa» a very large uitrtendanoe of ladSes and gentlemen. Tlie Ground Committee reported rkiting the ground, aand arranging the general details for Thursday. There would h* ample provision in the produce shed foe _M display of the smaller articles. The decorated cycles and vehicles would be placed in tlie verandah, of the produce shed, _f_) the baby show would be held i_ a, very large marquee. All the arrangement-w-ere complete, and all that was wanted _*■ that the ladies and gentlemen who had ____ appoi_t_d to act as marshals and judge* should be on the ground as early as pomsibU on Thursday morning,** that the work might go on as speedily as possible. The.chairman pointed out. that it would be neowsary to commence judging as early as possible, because the other portion of the display would want to go on. The judge.*, t__refore, should be on tbe ground sharp at 11 _.m. Mr Arwtey pointed' out tliat the exhibitors were theones who should be urged to complete their decorations aa speedily aa possible, especially the tables and the bouquet _ Mr Murphy stated, in reply to a question from Mr Maude, that he had gone round to the principal schools to ate whether they would close. The Chairman said the Mayor hod telegraphed to tbe Chairman of the Board of Educatiot-, asking bin} that the schools might be cloeed, and • cdrcula-rs had been sent out to til School _______ees. It w__ rewired,- ©_ the motion of Mr Hart, that the lady ____• bers of the Committee meet at 10.30, and the male members at 10 a.in. an Thursday —on the ground. It waa rewired that the judges and marshal* of the variout Motions should meet at the aecretajy-s office on the ground, before proceeding to work.
