Bank notes which Whitaker Wright, of the London and Globe Finance Corporation, changed, revealed hie presence in Paris on February 21st. Afterwards, accompanied by v young lady, understood to be hii> niece, he embarked on the liner La Lorraine at Havre, for America. He had previously registered aa Monsieur and Mdl'.e. Adieoni, and took one of the finest deck suites. After nailing he told the purser of the steamer that a mistake had been made, and that their real names weie J. W. Wright and Mifis Brown. At the instance «>f the London police v. New York detective yesterday arrested Wright aboard the La Lorraine on a charge of being a fugitive from justice. Wright showed no excitement, and expressed surprise at liie arrest. He declared that the whole affair was a business transaction, which he understood had been settled by Parliament. At the Police Court the Magistrate, Mr Tombs, ordered him to gaol. An early extradition is expected. Miss Brown stated that she veaA visiting friends, and stayed at the Albermarie Hotel. Wright is accused of issuing fraudulent balance-sheets in connection -with the various companies associated with the London and Globe Finance Corporation. The Government having failed to prosecute him owing to ■what was considered a defect in the law, a private movement was initiated and funds raised for the purpose of taking proceedings against him. According to a cable message published on Friday, Mrs Wright said her husband left home five weeks ago, and was probably in the interior of Egypt. She vras then unaware of any prosecution, and etated that Ked Park was mortgaged and the yachts sold. She herself lost £45,000, and possessed nothing but the furniture.
