LORD HAWKE'S TEAM j MATCH AGAINST NEW ZEALAND. Mr J. Fowke, the selector of the New Zealand team, wi'l choose the eleven to represent the colony in the first match against the Englishmen during the present w«ek. The match will be played-at Lancaster Park on Friday, Saturday, and Monday, February 27th and 28th, and March 2nd, and already tlie groundinan is at work making preparations for tlie game. The very creditable showing that the Canterbury Eleven made against Lord Hawke's team* will cause the New ZealanaT match to be looked forward to with special interest. Tlie New Zealand Cricket Council is making arrangements with tlie Railway Department for excursion fares and special trains to suit the convenience of country residents. A match was played at Hagley Park yesterday between the Epsom Cricket Club, Riccarton, and a combined team from the literary staffs of the "Lyttelton Times" and "Press," which resulted in a draw. The former batted first, and compiled the good score of 284 (A. Cutts 102, G. Murray-Aynsley 67, H. Cutts 28, Davis 25, Donovan 18, and Pine 12). The combined team responded with 118 for nine wickets (King 31, Barge 26, Hamber 20, Young 15). Hardcastle, Dickson, and Mitclieli bowled best for the combined team, and Murray-Aynsley and Davis for Epsom.
