BURWOOD.
The prizes were distributed at the Bur wood school on Thursday evening, the schoolroom being filled to" overflowing. Mr Judd, Chairman of the School Committee, presided, and addresses were given by Messrs Judd, Davidson (headmaster) Burton (secretary), and Rev. F. R. Inwood. Hearty cheers were given for the master and mietress (Miss Spenee). Forty-five priies were given by the Committee, and Mrs McChirg, Mr Bishop (New Brighton), and Mr Burton eeoh. gave a special prize Books were given to every child. The first prizes were won in the first to the seventh standards by Herbert Reabv, Ivy Bowden, W. Mercer, Edgar Bliss, Minnie Mercer, T. McClurg, and Evelyn Newlove. The Upper Standard prizes in sewing were won by Mary Leggott, Minnie Mercer, and T. Harrison. Drawing by Evelyn Newlove, W. Mooney, and Daisy Davidson. Carving by Evelyn Newlove, A. Bisnran, Alice leherwood, and T McClurg.
