ATHLETICS.
♦ .... A committee meeting of the Pioneer Amateur Bicycle and Athletic Club -mis held on Wednesday. Present—Messrs E. W. Cardale (chairman), 11. S. Batclielor, R. Wallace. F. S. Hurley, T. H. North, C. S. Harper, J. W. Uavis, P. Menzies, nod J. E. Green (secretary). It was decided to hold a series of evening" race meetings during January and February, between. 6 and 8 p.m., for members of the dub, and to award trophies to the winners of the most aggregate points. Messrs F. H. Harley, C. F. SmMlh, and E. W. Cardale •were appointed handicappers for these event*, the flrtb of which was fixed for January 12th. Mr C. 6. Harper, who broke the standard for the high jump at the Spring Meeting on Saturday last, was awarded & standard badge. Votes of tihonjra were accorded Mr Ales. Lowry for a donation to the club's funds, Mr W. Tonics for acting us honorary auditor, and Mr F. W. Johnston for his past services m tUrter. The Beece Challenge Cup, being open only to members of the club, was awarded to Mr jb. T. Harper, who ran ttecond in the half-mile race on Saturday Jlaet, the winner not being a member of the Chib, while the Carl Cup was awarded to Mr T. H. Oates, wiamer of inosb points in the open bicycle events. It was reported ~i«fc & etart would ehortly be made with the new club house.
