The Tennis Club was engaged in a match ;igainst a team representinc; tho Avons-Lde Lawn Tennis C.ub; tlio croquet lawns adjoining the tennis courts wwe occupied withh piayers, vvliilc further <iver on the oval theie a large gathering enjoying a varied projjrnmme of fortyfour athletic events, under the auspices of the Ashburton Combined Schools Athletic eports Association. The members of the Fire Brigade w»nt to Lagmhor for their annual picnic, and the Sdwyn Challenge Fio'd Glasse«, toget-hw with a prize presented by Captain A. A. Fooks, were fired for on tba Ashburton Mounted Rifle*' range tit The Wesleyans opened a bazaar in the grounds adjoining the church. The day's festivities were brought to a close with a complimentary social in th» Oddfellows' Hall, to Mr J. McLachlan, M.H.R.
