WOMEN'S CHRISTIAN TEMPERANCE UNION.
At the annual meeting of the Women's Clmstinn Temperance Union, a satisfactory report was submitted. The League has now a membership of 82, and excellent work, it was stated, was done by fcho young people, both on polling! day and in con-r.-ection with the recent tea meeting in Canterbury Hall. Tlie financial report showed that during the year tha sum of £270 had passed through the hands of the Union, the year closing with a small dfrbit balance. The following officers were elected : —President, Miss Powell (Windmill road); corresponding secretary, I\Eiss W. Smith (Riccaiton); recording secretary, Mrs Willis (Madras street); treasurer, Mrs Ferguson (Kilmore street). Arrangements were made for commencing next year's work with a social. The Kaiapoi Union met on Wednesday. The secretary's report showed a large increase of members during hist year. A satisfactory financial report was also submitted. All the officers were re-elected.
