ASHBURTON.
The distribution of prizes in various schools in tlie Ashburton district took place yesterday afternoon. Tlie pan-r.te and friends of the pupils attending the respective establishments were present in large numbers. There was ample evidence all round of the careful piinstaking efforts of teachers, both in practical and ornamental work. At each of the «choo!s an interesting musical programme was gono through. Mr David Thomas, prefacing his distribution of the prizes at the Ashburton Borough School, said: —"We are proud of our schools; Vβ are especially proud of our' children; we are exceedingly proud of our teachers."
