MARCONI BEATS THE NEWSPAPERS.
Wireless telegraphy has put to shame the most enterprising newspapers in Spain. Mr Marconi's experiments on the Italian cruiser Carlo Alberto included the daily transmission of current news bulletins from his station at Poldhu, Cornwall, to fhe Carlo Alberto, off Ferrol. The news of the world, thus summarised, was posted on the ship, and the bulletins were far ahead of the Spanish newspapers received on board. Mr Marconi and the officers knew of important happenings almost as soon as the news agencies in London. The report of Mr Marconi's cruise is made by Lieutenant Luigi Solari, and is attested by Admiral Carlo Mirabello. While off the island of Gothland, in the Baltic, on July 23rd, messages were received, the speed being about fifteen words a minute. Andnored m the bay of Gibraltar, tho Carlo Alberto maintained her connection with the outside world, via Poldhu. While en route from Gibraltar to Spezsia three messages -were received from Poldhu, including a congratulatory message from the directors of tS© Marconi uompany to the King of Italy.
