TWO GREAT SOLDIERS.
HONOURING LORDS ROBERTS AND KPTCHENER.
AN EULOGY OF COLONIAL SPIRIT.
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received August Bth, 9.15 a.m.) LONDON, August 7. At tfee GuildhaCl, in the presence of tihe Coknial Premiers, the Indian Princes, the AgOTts-Gewsral, and the Imperial Ministers and ex-Ministers, iHuminated addresses and services of plate were presented by the City .Corporation to Earl Roberts and Viscount Kitchener, in recognition of their services during the war. In replying, both the Generals eulogised the army, and the excellent services of the colonials. Viscount Kitchener especially praised his brave colonial comrades. Their fine spirit and loyalty, he said, had led them to sacrifice their private interests to share the dangers and hardships of the campaign. "As long as that spirit existed," he added, we, as a people, possess the qualifications of an Empire. The only requisite is that our leaders and rulers should mould and direct that spirit, in order to ensure its efficient use for the common benefit of the race."
