—*-. (SPECIAL TO "THE FBESS.") WELLINGTON, July 51. A Conference of the Canterbury members of both Houses, _ the Hon. C. (.'. Bowen pre.iding, was held this morning, to consider the questions of the differential rates charged on the I/ytteltoD-Christcburoh lines, which Mr G. Laurenson said wer ■ from fifteen to one hundred per cent, higher than on my other ;>ort. line in the colony. Eventually the Chairman, and Messrs Laurenson, Russell, Buddo, Smith, and Collins were appointed a committee to draft a full report from data on the subject relating to the grievance, to bring before the _ouse, and the meeting adjourned till next Tuesday, with a view to waking on Sir Jos. Ward on the subject.
