PREMIER ON THE CHAPLAIN QUESTION.
(press association telegbam.)
WELLINGTON, March 22
The Premier wires that the Auckland message yesterday stating that, in replying to the Ministers' Association's deputation, he admitted that the Government had erred in not sending a chaplain with the early contingents, is not correct- Mr Seddon says it would have been a violation of the army regulations to have sjent a chaplain with the first seven contingents, because they did not consist of more than five hundred men, and he told the deputation so. As Defence Minister he embraced tha first opportunity of including chaplains in the succeeding contingents.
