THE LIST TO BE CLOSED. . We propose closing the list of subscriptions on Saturday next, November 2nd. Those who have ,, not already contributed, ttfcd would like to help to brighten "Christmas on the veldt ,, for "Our Boys," will therefore kindly send subscriptions to "The Press" office before that day. Agents of "The Press" will also oblige by sending in their l'ste and remitting the cash they have received, so a* to roach us nor. later than Saturday nest, November 2nd.
As already notified, gifts in kind should be left at the Public Works Office. Port Office Buildings. Cathedral .Square, not Inter than Friday next; November Ist, after which date fchey cannot be. received. All such gifts will be .acknowledged in ''The Press" if the donors, will kindly advise us of ,'tueir having bnen «ent. The: parcels should be plainly marked "Troopers' Gift*, ,, together with the name of the sender.
The following are among the articles mentioned by a'returned officer in a letter to "The Preee" as being most suitable articles to send:—Tobacco, pipciighters, chocolate, cocoa,- curry powd?r, .mustard, tea tablet*, socks, bootlaces, knives,. nixpeony editions of books, ink;pencils, /writing pade* envelopes, plum-puddinge, or coritonts for making same. Matches were also mentioned, but these are not allowed to ba.shipped with other goods, so must be excluded. The ■ Gear. Co.'b eseence of beef sent in,.'"The Press , More Men" parcels was veiy much appreciated.
