General Sir Hector Maodpnald had a splendid reception, at Oamaru, Although tne arrangements were altered at the lasts mozneat u> allow of the General's stay here extending over two hours preparations were completed for giving him a worthy recaptiou. Hβ was heartily cheered at the railway station on arrival, and whs thereafter of iven to the Star and Uarter Hotel, Avhera luncheon was served, and where speeches were delivered. General Macdonald whs presetted with a gold-mounted lancowood walking stick by the Oamaru Caledonian hiociety, whose guest he woe, with a cigarette case in greenstone and silver by the Waitaki Gaelic Society. He left the railway station followed by enthusiastic cheere.
