WELLINGTON, September 30. A decree nisi has been granted in the divorce case Florence Trask v George Trask. WANGANUI, September 30. At the Supreme Court to-day the Chief Justice congratulated the town on the smallness of the criminal calendar. True bills were found in all of the cases. McGinnity and Collier were found guilty of theft from a dwelling, <and were remanded till the morning. In the other cases tried to-day the accused pleaded guilty, and were remanded for-sentence. The Soler abduction case comes on for hearing on Thursday, and the Patea election case early nest week.

NEW PLYMOUTH, September 30. At a meeting of the Executive Committee of the forthcoming Brass Band Contest to-night, the following prizes were fixed:—Test selection, first prize £100 and medals, second £50, third £25, fourth £15, fifth £10. Marching contest, four prizes. £20, £15, £10, and £5. The usual prizes were allotted for solos, trios, and Quartettes.
