Mr H. F. Wells, paymaster of H.M.S. Archer, who had a fall in th« hunting field some time ago, and was taken to the Christchurch Hospital, suffering from a fractured hip and internal injuries, is now improving slowly. At the Kajapoi Woollen Mill, on Thursday, Geo. Taylor, one of the hands in the dye-house, had one finger and part, of the others crushed in a wringing machine.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION , TELEGRAM.) NAPIER, July 18The body of the man found in the water, near Clive, has been identified as that of John Prior, who had been working for a contractor in the district. The deceased was a man of weak intelligence, and had been roaming about the country for the last few weeks. It is not known whether he had any. relations in the colony. It is conjectured that the man may have got off the road, which, after heavy rain, is sometimes submerged at this part, and been drowoed.
