POLICE COURT.
ALLEGED THEFT. ' At the Lyttelton Police Court, yesterday, before Captain Marciel, J.P., William' Loader, David Miller, and Robert Haydn were charged With steeling two boxes of cigars, a box of playing cards, and,* bottle of whisky, of the. total value of £S 2» Wpj the property of. J. , Ashwprth, licensee of the Royal Hotel, Lyttelton. Loader was further charged with rescoing MiHljar from lawful custody, and Miller was charged with escaping from lawful cnatodv. On j the application of .the police, the accused I were remanded till neict Wednesday. Bail was allowed; two sureties- of £50- each. It is alleged that licensee of the Royal, caught Mfller Jμ the storeroom' of the hotel, and IJ&ydn. jfx a passage outside.
