PRESENTATIONS.
Last evening, at thia Rangiora Borough Chambers, a presentation was made to Mr A. B. Btaekett, who is leaving for Stratford. The chair was occupied by Sir Sansrvm, Mayor, and about forty were present. Mr J. Johnston, on behalf of the subscribers, presented Mr Bla-ckett with a gold English hunting kejtess lever watch, and double chain w'jth. •pendant-,' set with topaz, and-; e, gold brooch set with diamonds for Mrs Blackett, He referred to Mr Blackett's honourable business career, and his (helpful assistance in public matters —in the Building Society as a director, treasurer for the Masonic Lodge, trustee* for Oddfellows, and other responsible positionsi••'• A number -of gentlemen present also spoke in terms of regret at losing Mr Blackett from tbs town and district. Mr Blackett expressed his sincere thanks for the kind expressions, and his regret at leaving so many friends. He, however, hoipsd to take up anew 'business with every prospect of success, a.nd 'hs shoulxt never forget his associations with Rangiora friends.. The articles presented were obtained from Mr Ball, jeweller. The watch has a suitable inscription and monogram. •,-... Mr Worsley, late chief officer of the Hinemoa, who has 'been given command of the new schooner Countess of Ranfurly," which is to ply between New Zealand and the Cook Islands, has received a presentation from the officers and crew of the Hinemoa. Captain Bollons, as spokesman for the donors, wished Mr Worsley success in his new position.
