AUCKLAND'S INTENTIONS.

WELLINGTON, July 5. The Auckland City Council last night, on the advice of Superintendent Hugo, of Wellington, adopted a. scheme for the thorough reorganisation of the Fire Brigade. There wS.I be about sixty alarm boxes throughout the city, and five fire stations. The central station will bs a new building in Pitt street, the ground ..plan being almost a replica of that adopted in Wellington. There will in this building be a fire engine with a capacity of 450 gallons, while another with a capacity of 350 gaQons will be pla-ced in Ponsonby, ths only part of the town where tibe pressure from the water mains is weak. Tee permanent staff at all stations will.ba seventeen men, of whom eleven will ba at the central station. The auxiliary stuff will number twenty-four. Nine horses will be kept. The cost of the scheme is roughly estimated at £511,000, and ths annual cost of maintenance £2800. The Council was 'unanimous in adopting the report, and a'ns-w superintendent is advertised for.
