THE TORCH.
H.M.B, Torch is a screw sloop of 960 tons displacement, with a horse-power of 1000, WHtcu gives her a speed of 13.25 knots per hour. She, carries six guns. The Torch was first commissioned to the Australasian station in 1897, and returned to England last year, being again commissioned to the station after* general overhaul,and reaching Sydney early in this year, coming over to N*w Zealand at the end of ApriL The following is a list of the officers:—Commander, Norman G. Alacalister; Navigating Lieutenant, Gregory Stapleton; Lieutenants, Marcus F. B. V?hyt* and Claude Seymour; Surgeon, Robert 8. Bernard; AssistantTaymaster in Charge, Alfred E. B. Hosken j Engineer, Edward J. Weeks: Gunner, James KeJley; Clerk, Robert T. Johnson.
