THE PYLADES.
The Pyladea is a screw cruiser of the third claw, and was commissioned to the Australasian station in 1899. She has a displacement, of 1420 tons, with a horse-power of 950, and a spe«d of 12.6 knots, carrying 14 guns. Her officers are as follow:—Commander, Reginald G. O. Tupper; Navigating Lieutenant, Arthur Truscottj Lieutenants, Cecil F. L. Wutson, John Kiddle, John W. Nash; Staff-Surgeon, Walter G: Atford ; Paymaster, Theodore T. Lanyon ; Chief Engineer, Charles J. Buddy ; Gunner, Edwin H. Neale.
