WIRE JUMPING AT "TE KORAHA."
At Te Koraha on Saturday afternoon a display of wive jumping was arranged for their Royal Highnesses the Duke and DucheKS. Fences three feet nine inches high had been erected with strands of black wire connectirge ach standard, The following officer* look pnrt in the jumping;— Captain Pnlairet, . Lieutenant Wyudham the A m »ri Mounted Kifles, - Lieutenants Bathell and Lance, both of the same corps, and Lieutenant McLean, of the Ashburton Mounted Rifles. The horses were a fairly representative'lot, and, despite the weak light, which made the wires almoefc invisible at times, the exhibition went off well- xhe jumping was done singly several times, and then in one section of five. After the trials, Sergeant l'ubman, of the Canterbury Mounted Rifjee, who is his Royal Highneeis's orderly, gave a display of fancy riding, making his horee Ho <Jown at words of command, and going through difficult feat* of horsemanship. His Royal Highness appeared well pleased at tha ' exhibitions. Colonel Penton, Captain Lewip.- and . other officers were present at the exhibition.
