MANCHESTER STREET.
As the procession slowly passed up Man- . chest«r street the cheers were token up ell along the line, o> louder and deeper roar signifying a. more numerous gathering of spectators at some coign of vantage. The streets was densely lined with people, .who kept perfect order, and made no attempt to crowd on }o or interfere with the volunteers lining tho route. The Auckland Naval Artillery lined the South Belt «t the Railway Station, and along Manchester street were placed +he Companies forming the Nelscn, Marlborough, and West Coast Battalion, comprising the Waitohi, Reefton, Deainieton, Wontport, Nelson, Greymouth,.Waimea, Blenheim, and Stoke Rifles. As the procession passed along the street the Duohess gra,ck>u«<y aknowledged the hearty. , reception that was accorded them, but the Duke took matters quietly, and only now and then bowed to the cheering crowds. Had there been any doubt as to which was the Royal carriage this would soon have been set at rest by the epliendid appearance of the two Lifcguardsmen, the Dulke of Roxburghe and Viscount Crichton, who ac equerries rode on either side of the carriage.
