SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of the Richmond School Committee was neld on Wednesday evetaing. Present—Messrs Paull (chairman), Cardiwell, Sorensen, O'Connor, Hilson, Richards, Stirling, and Potter. ,An apology was received from Mr Shaw. Tie treasurer reported a debit balance of £5 9s. The headmaster reported the number on the roll to be 591, and the average attendance for the past four weeks 513. It was decided to introduce in the school Messrs Wbitcomibe and Tombs' Imperial Readers after the examination. The planting of a few trees in the school ground was left to the Works' Committee. The sum of three guineas was voted to purchase new books for the school library. The Chairman reported that a piano, costing £35, was now m use at the school, and the headmaster intended to give an entertainment shortly, in aid of the fund. A letter wes received from the Board of Education notifying that £3 had been paid to the Committee's account to teach swimming. The Chairman was instructed to again write to the Board in reference to a caretaker's cottage. Accounts amounting to £9 5s were passed.
