THE VOLUNTEERS.
A marching - competition between four squads of the Christ's College Rifles took place last night. Captains Harper and Bishop were the judges. The competition was won by Serg.ant Sty die's squad with 35 points; Sergeant Hartland's and Sergeant Colclough's squads weie equal for second. , __. On Tuesday evening the 'Lyttelton Naval Artillery Cadets paraded at the drill shed. The attendance numbered forty-six, under Captain Longuct and Lieutenant Wales. The sections wore put through the manual exercises by their petty officers, __n*d the company was exercised in company movement. Tha "<J_-rps has lately been sworn in as volunteers before Messrs J. T. Brice and G. Laurenson, J.P.'s. Extra parades are being held this week, so that the Cadets may be well up in their drill for the review on MondajF.
