GERALDINE.

The annual .meeting of ratepayers of the Geraldine Road Board district was held yesterday at noon, when all the members of the Board were present and several ratepayers. Mr J. Kelland occupied the Chair. The annual report, and balancesheet showed that the Board commenced the year with a credit balance of £2370 5s lOd, and there had been received from all sources during the rear the sum of £2724 Os 3d. The total*amount expended for all purposes including harbour rate and charitable aid was £2515 18s 61. leaving a credit balance on March 51st of £2552 16s 4d. Twentrv contracts had been let and completed during the year, fiftychains of new formation and about 6200 yards of shingling on roads. The roads in the district, were in f.-lr order, but some of the main roads showed signs of weakness owing to the increase of heavy traffic. Considerable repairs had been effected to bridges. Heavy floods had upset the river course:*, which will take time. ,to put right and will be costly work. The report was adopted.
