ROAD BOARDS.

SPRINGS. The Springs Road Board met on Tuesday. In accordance with the reejuest, it was decided to collect the rates levied by the South Waimakariri River Board when the general rate is levied in Julynext. It was decided, in reply to a letter sent by F. Hubbard, that "tlie secretary should see .him with reference to the drain complained of on McDonald's read. The Selwyri County Council intimated that it would accede to the Board's request to pay the balance due for charitable aid. Messrs Matthews and McVeigh were granted permission, on the usual conditions, to remove a quantity of gravel from the Board's pit to metal the approach to the now railway station. The overseer's report stated that fair progress had been made in cleaning the district drains and metalling the roads. Repairs on various roads were authorised. The annual meeting of ratepayers was deferred, pending the audit of the" balance-sheet.
