The newspaper mail was large, but not nearly the largest despatched from this oifioe- tt filled 61 bags, and weighed 1 ton llcvrt. Quite a larg* number of letters were (surcharged owuig to the senders having uiiv aitixeil v penny stamp instead of a 2jjd cue, the postage required to send a letter ot tho minimum weight to countries other tb<n Canada, South Africa, and certain other places enumerated in the leceutly-issued I'osuil Guide.
