Pearee, the same team going through a clever horizontal bar performance. A grand display of the art of fence was a feature of the evening, Professor Byrne and a clever young pupil giving tin exhibition which highly plenstd the audience. The work wait quick and graceful, the academy salute in rjutirte and tierce proving the finest piece of work, although the assault-ut-arms end grand salute were beautifully executed. Mr liyroo'ii pupil has not been a great time under the prolessor's tuition, but is considered one of the most promising pupils he ever had in hand.

Professor Ward's display of muscular resistance by human magnetism proved exceedingly interesting, and afterwards cams an exciting contest in amateur weight-lift-ing, under Sondow rules. The single-hand .dumb-bell, Htraight press (right and left) Araa won by Kerr, 701bs; Cook second 651bs; and Gibb third, 651b3. The best press competition wax won. by Kenr (1101b right hruxl. iOolb left hand).* Cook coming second (1001b right and 901b left), and Uibb third (951b right, and 801b lef.f. The previous (Jhristchurch amateur record in weight-lifting was Mr Cutting's performance (941b either hand). In the two-handed lmr-beH contest Kerr wns again the victor, lifting 1601b, Cook 1301b and Uibb 130. Kerr belongs to Woolston, and is a finely developed young athletu who has been in I'lofensor Ward's hands only five months.

The bedroom suite exhibited by Messrs BiUantyne and Co. in the Exhibition, and part of the drawing-room suite, has been purchased by Mr Dawson, of Dunedin. From this date till the closes of the--Ex-hibition on tho 31st instant, the Executive have determined to reduce the price of admission ut the turn-stiles for children under fourteen to threepence. The Executive have decided to hold an "At Home" on the .closing night of the Fxhihiuon (31st instant). Invitations will shortly be issued to tho members of the various committees, the members of the Industrial Association, the judges of the Home Industrie* and Working Exhibits Sections, and to those who have been prominent in organizing the various comcerts and entertainments during the season. To-night a variety and ventriloquial entertainment will be given by Messrs Seager and Dickie.
