WESTPORT. December 3

The Rev. J. M. Bourne. Primitive Methodist minister*, at Denmston, died in his pulpit, la*, evening immediately on giving out the opening hymn. He fell to the floor and never spoke again. Heart disease was said'to bathe cause. He had been stationed in Canterbury and Hunterville, and was about to preach an in memoriam sermorj.

iMr Bourne had had a varied career. He was at one time a guard on t:he London, Chatham, and Dover Railway, and on coming out to New Zealand he* became traffic manager of the Christchurch Tramway Company. He was a lay preacher in the Primitive Methodist Church, and subsequently entered .the ministry of that Church, being stationed) at Hivntsrville, and then being transferred to Denniston.
