Wellington won the toss, and towards the end of the first spell Wood scored a try, -which was not improved up*?-, The second spell had no sooner started "then' the Southland men rushed the ball down the field, and Rodgera got an excelleat god mm a penalty kick. There was no further scoring, and play ended with honours even.
