ELLESMERE.

The ordinary meeting of this Board waa held on Monday, 2nd inst. All the members were present, Mr W. McMillan presiding. In reply to a letter from Mr E. Ruddock, asking the Board to clean out the drain from Wilson's mill past Mr Ruddock's homestead, and offering to pay one-third of the cost, it was decided to cany out the work. Mr Wm. Marshall having applied for the shingling of portion of Harman's road leading past his place, the Overseer was instructed to inspect and report at next meeting. Mr T. K. 0. Newlove asked the Board to clean out the drain on his frontage, Hanmer's road, and it was decided to carry out the work if Mr Newlove will pay one-third of the cost. Messrs Joynt and Andrews wrote on behalf of the estate of.the late C. Davie, claiming the sum of £25 for shingle taken for shingling tho road running through the estate. It was decided to reply that the Board is not prepared to pay the estate any more than tho price paid to other land owners supplying shingle to the Board, viz., 2d per cubic yard. An application from Mr H. J. Washbourne, that the Board should clean out tho SandfJHfin's road drain opposite his land, the writer agreeing to pay his share of tho cost, was granted. Messrs S. Graham and D. Hampton interviewed the Board, asking for the shingling of portion of Creamery road, and offered to supply the shingle at Id per yard. It was decided to call for tenders for the work. Mr W. Belton- having asked that the drain on Sanderson's road should be enlarged, it was decided to clean the drain if applicant pays half the cost.
