NOTES AND MEMORANDA.

The members of the Chriitchurch Motett Society are reminded of the combined practice of the chorus and orchestra in the hall over Fountain Barber's stationer's shop, High street, to-night, at 7.45 p.m. During the coming musical season, four concert*— two choral and two choral and orchestral combined—will be given by the Society. A strong chorus of over 100 voices is now rehearsing Handel's oratorio " Israel in Egypt," which will be produced at the Opera House on the 26th instant. A concert, consisting of selections by the orchestra and the cantata " Phaudrig Crohoore" by the chorus, will shortly follow. The third concert will consist of selections by the orchestra, a pianoforte concerto, songs and part songs ; while at the fourth concert the Society intend* to introduce for the first time in New Zealand the cantata " King Olaf."

The meets of the hounds of the Christchurch Hunt Club have been fixed as fol lows : —Saturday, April 21st, at Mr Witty's, Templeton. at 11 a.m. ; at Mr S. Bailey's, at 2p.m., Tuesday, April 24th, at Templeton 11 a.m.; Saturday, April 28th, at Mr Fowler's, Broomfield, at 2 p.m. A general meeting of the Railway Reform League will be held ab the City Council office on Wednesday next, 25th instant, at eight o'clock, for the election of a president and secretary.

The annual parish meeting of Avonside will be held this evening. The winter show of the Christchurch Horticultural Society will be opened in the Art Gallery on Wednesday next, and will be continued on Thursday.

The parish meeting in connection with St. Luke's will be held this evening, at eight o'clock. At nine o'clock, there will be music and refreshments. The inaugural meeting of the Christchurch High School Old Girla' Association will be held in the Canterbury College hall on Friday, 27th instant, at 8 p.m. A meeting of those who have been selected by the committee to form the Fire Police will be held in the City Council library this evening, at eight o'clock.
