THE MUNGARXOA RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
(PBSSS ASSOCIATION TELBQBAtt.} WELLINGTON, April 15. In the Departn_ental enquiry into the Mun_—roa railway accident, the evidence of Hicks, the gnara who was injured in the accident, was taken at the hospital. He says the train went on to 4he grade slowly, not more than two miles an hour, and he put on tho brakes after leaving Kaitoke. He did not hear the engine whistle for brakes, but kept them on hard. Hickstates he was fully conscious all the time he -was lying under the wreckage, and suffered great pain.
