THE LINWOOD RECREATION GROUND.
TO THE EDITOR OV THE TRESS.
gir,—I have b«n waking for some time to sea or bear what is going to be done ir the matter of a park for Lin wood. Why this reticence? Is it tnie they Have bungled tiu> whole matter? Is it true that they have chosen the site for tneir park in another borough against that other borough's will? j Is it true that they have chosen their _recrea- < tion ground alongside a stinking drair> that has been * curse aad been cursed ever sincr it has been there? and for which & large sum of money has recently been raised and spent to do away with the curse. Is it true that they have paid the vendor 25 per cent, more than be asked for it, and that they have paid 25 per cent more than h« could possibly sell it for \o the public? If these things are true, are these mm fit to have the spending of our money or the management of Linwobd's public affairs. Would it not have been wise to have consulted the ratepayers in this matter instead of forming a death tr*p alongside this well but unfavourably known sewer.— T ami etc., O\E WHO WANTS RECREATION AND NOT THE BUBONIC PLAGUE.
