A RUNAWAY DREDGE

The "Pelorue Guardian" state* that a few days ago Messrs Greene and Butler had a narrow escape while shifting the dredge on the Wakamarina river formerly owned by Dr. Mackenzie. All means were taken to stay progress, even to putting the boiler overboard Qβ an anchor, but the strain broke the rope. Eventually the dredge stranded on a beach before tho bridge was reached. The result, if the bridge had been struck, would have been very serious.
