TrFday is general entry day for the Metropolitan meeting. Besides entries having to be made for the three hurdle races, the Ric- . carton Welter, Criterion, Epsom High Weight, Avon Welter and Spring Nursery Handicaps, Ladies' Purse and Electric Plate, acceptances fall due for the Stewards' Handicap. A payment of 7 soys has to be made for the New Zealand Cup, and the second forfeit is declarable for the Derby, Oaks, and Welcome Stakes. To-day is general entry day for the Auckland Racing Club's -pring mating. The settling in connection witti the Ohoka and Eyret-on J.G. took place on Tuesday, when t_,e following amounts were paid away: —Msssrs H. Goodman, £30, ' F. P. C__idge £27 10s, W. O. Rutherford £25, T. Lynskey £23, G. D. Crowe £22, A. Duncan* £20, J. Hampton £20, G. B. Murfit* £17, F. Woodford £10, H. McLean £3, E. J. Roden £2 10s. Our Napier correspondent telegraphs that The Labourer and (seahorse, in charge of Percy Martin; Explosion, Rosella and Bed T dington, in charge of George Wright; Tauhea (Butterworth), and First Blood, Cast-ashore and Mitra, with R. J.- Piatt in charge, left by the Zealandia for Lyttelton yesterday. The lot all looked well, lie states, particularly Seahorse, who has been doing good track work since bis wins at the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club's Meeting. Our Auckland correspondent telegraphs: — St. Paul will be a non-acceptor for the New Zealand Cup. He has been on tluv walking list since he worked on Tuesday last. It was discovered he had burst a blood vessel in one of his legs. Coronet, too, I understand, will not continue his engagement.
