RICCARTON TRAINING NOTES.

Work commenced soon after five o'clock, Glenogle leading off with a good sound-pace working-gallop once round the plough. St. Dennis, atone, strode along at top pace over six furlongs, going in a pleasing manner. Malatua and Peerage were associated in a mile and a quarter gallop on the plough, and tihe latter, who was apparently carrying much d_e lighter weight, led Ms compajnion slightly throughout, but Malatua, ridden out, finished nearly on terms. Various stages of the gallop were—quarter 27_sec, half 53_sec, six furlongs lmin 21sec, and full distance 2min 15_sec. Djin Djin and Miss Delav_! were then put together over the same ground, ir____ig t_e first quarter in 26_sec, half in 52_sec, six furlongs in lmin 20|sec, the full distance in _mm 15_sec. BotSh were on terms, and their riders busy a little over a f_rlo_g from home, and neari!ng the post Djiin Djin seemed to have most left. Weaver strode -long strongly for several furlongs, and traversed two rounds, and is seemingly well. Deadbeat finished well in front of the _-,ke__ell—Dudu gelding in a six furlong brush. Cherrystone, alone, did useful work, and so also Golden Lake and . tihe Miss Russley gelding. Medallius put in easy pacing exercise. Dundas and "Benzoin, worked separately, did easy pacing. tasks. Nantes and Fireside each ran along fast down the back stretch, covering about four furlongs. Bristol and Hermosa ran four furlongs down the back in 52_sec, tbe former starting in front, being passed in the first furlong, and re-passing his companion towards the finish. Ben Farley ran about five furlongs, easing up in the. straight. Blunderbus and Glenelg sprinted down the straight twice. Huku and Hawthorn ran along together for several furlongs, when the former was sent on alone for a medium pace round. A light drizzling rain commenced when the after breakfast lots put in an appearance. Most of the two-year-olds were worked on the plough, and fairly strong tasks were alloted some of them, while others were merely given half-pace exercise.
