Passing into the back stretoh no material change took place, all the horses fencing ia a fattttless manner. As they passed tho •tand on. the second round, Morag, Hilda 11., ana Kauri. Gum were in ihe Head, while Ned • Kdlyhad given, way to Venture. The others w,e».ru-_f-___-g in much the same order as had been msinUnned at first. Going to the back, ■ Tataramoa came up, and, with Kauri Gum, led over the god wall. Tbe nert.fence proved i-tol to Morag, who was running third, and Ned KellValso came to grief at the a_me obstacle. The next jump, the, ditch and bank, brought Tatar-unoa to grief, and Noi"-West also, stopped. Kauri Gum was thus left with ' a good fesd from Tally-ho, Venture making up a lot of ground ju*t_here.
