In the case of two youths, named Blomley, charged with the murder of their father at Ballarat, in October last, a verdict of justifiable homicide was returned, and they were discharged. THE AUSTRALLYN CABLE SYSTEM. BRISBANE, February 15. It is understood that the Eastern Extension Cable Company has placed before the Governmept a scheme Jto Brisbane.the terminus of the Australian cable system. No details have been disclosed, but it is understood that the Government is favourably impressed. THE GATTON TRAGEDY. BRISBANE, February 15. The police have disproved the statements of the man who said he camped near the scene of the Gatton tragedy on the night of the murder. They are conveying Burgess over the route he alleged he travelled at the time of the Gatton and Oxley murders, with a view to testing his statements. THE GOVERNOR OF NEW GUINEA. ADELAIDE, February 15. Mr Le Hunte, the new Governor of New Guinea, has arrived here. THE FIRE IN A MINE. HOBART, February 15. Tlie fire in tbe Magnet mine has been subdued, and the damage is not serious.
