CRICKET.
MAJOR WARDILL AND THE N.S.W. ASSOCIATION. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, February 14. There is a prospect of the difficulty between the New South Wales Cricket Association and Major Wardill being settled, and a match being played at Sydney. Major Wardill writes to Sydney to-day to re-open negotiations.
February 15. Mr McLaughlin, Vice-President of the Melbourne Cricket Club, who has just returned from Sydney, has informed Major Wardill that he had ascertained that while the New South Wales Association desired a paramount say in the arrangement of the proposed match in Sydney, it did not desire that the Australian Eleven should have no say. Major Wardill denies that the Sydney players were not consulted, and says he wrote to Iredale giving full particulars, and he should have consulted his colleagues.
