The Tarawera arrived early on Saturday morning. She left Sydney at 8.30 p.m. on the 4th instant, arrived at Wellington at 3.20 p.m. on the 9th, and sailed again at 4.30 p.m. on,the 10th. Between Sydney and Wellington she experienced dull cloudy weather with strong southerly galea and mountainous seas, between Wellington and Lyttelton she had fine weather and smooth sea. The Tarawera sailed for Melbourne via-Dunedin, etc., on Saturday afternoon. In consequence of the heavy south-east gale la?t weak the Pakeha had to leave Gisborne when she had taken in only about half the cargo intended for shipment by her. The Flora arrived from Dunedin early on Saturday morning, and sailed for Auckland via the East Coast in the afternoon. The Wakatu arrived from Wellington via Cheviot, etc., during Saturday night. The Huia ar-'ved from Kaipara on Saturday afternoon. The Elingamite arrived from Sydney via Auckland on Saturday afternoon, and sailed for Dunedin on Saturday night. The Ohau arrived from the south early yestorday morning. The Herald arrived from the south a few hours later. Tho Joseph Sims and the Enima Sims arrived yesterday, tho former from Motueka, the latter from Collingwood. Mr Vincent, late second engineer of the Rusvhine, has relieved Mr Greenstreet as chief engineer, the latter having been appointed to take charge of tho engineering department of the new steamer Wakanui.
