SUMNER BOROUGH COUNCIL.
♦ • A special meeting of the Sumner Borough Council was held on Friday. Present— The Mayor (.sir E. R. Deacon) and Cr., ■ Graham. Messrs J. M. Glenie and C.,P. Hulbert, the newly elected councillors, having made the usual declaration, took their seats. A letter w_s read from'Cr.' Hughes, now in England, asking for an extension -01 .reive of two months. < Granted. Letter from -...r A. Appleby, enclosing cheque for rates, and asking that notice be given ratepayers when the 10 per cent, fine' comes in force. Resolved that Mr Appleby, be informed that two _ulv*rtisements are "inserted in each paper, but that'iu future further publicity shall be given. From 'Cr. Hanmer, asking for a fortnight's leave. Granted. Accounts au-ounting to £103 16s 9d, including £88 15s sd, half-year's interest on waterworks loon, were passed 1 for payment. The Committees were re-arranged in consequence" of recent changes in councillors, Crs. Heeketh, Graham and* Hulbert being made the' Works, and .Crs. Hanmer, Qlonie and Hulbert the Finance Committees. The , Borough Ranger and* his duties were referred I to by the Mayor, and general dissatisfaction ' expressed at his furnishing no reports,. and not attending any meetings of the Council. The Town Clerk was instructed to "order him to furnish a report as to work done, and in future to be in attendance when the Council met.
