SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
The East Christchurch Committee met on Thursday, Mr M. Sandstein in the chair. Mrs Lissaman was recommended to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Miss Roberts at the South Belt School. It was resolved to send Miss Roberts a testimonial thanking her for long and faithful services. It,was resolved to vote for the retiring members on the Board of Education. A letter was received from Miss Taylor resigning her position as assistant mistress at Main School. The Committee resolved to recommend Miss ocott for promotion, and to request the Board to advertise to fill the vacancy. It was resolved to hold the annual picnic at Little River on Thursday, 16th inst. In reply to a circular from the Childrea's Aid Society, the Committee expressed their sympathy, and the head mastor was authorised to provide books for children in his estimation unable to provide for themselves. The following were recommended to the Board to fill the vacancies caused by the pupil teachers who had passed and left for the Normal School: —Misses Marion Hollis, Madeline Napper, Jessie Aiken, Ivy Murphy,, and Ethel Fraser.
