MEETINGS, ENTERTAINMENTS, &c.
The twenty-first annual meeting of the Christchurch Railway Employees Sick Benefit Society was hold in the Oddfellows' Hall, Addington, on Thursday, December 22nd. The president, Mr R. Wilson, was in the chair. 'Phe balance sheet showed that the receipts were £286 13s 2d, the expenditure £216 13s lOd, and the credit balance £69 19a 4d, absorbed by a dividend of 7s lOd per full member £58 15s sd, balance carried forward £11 3s lid. Tlie balance sheet was adopted. The officers for the ensuing year were elected as foHowa: —President, Mr G. Watson; vice-president, Mr D. A. Moore; secretary, William B. Bultitude; treasurer, James Slater; auditors, H. J. Jones, A. Johnson; provisional auditor, M. H. Chaplin.
An unusually large number of visitors have attended the Opawa aquarium during the recent holiday season. Monday last was quite a record day, and the Salvation Army band assisted at a pretty exhibition of club and Hag musical drill by the children oi the Army. The Primitive Methodists and other denominations were also well represented. Songs and glees were contributed by the pupils and friends of Mrs Williamson.
