WELLINGTON, December 8. Mr W. C. Gill, M.A., headmaster of .the Hokitika Boys' High School, has been appointed by the Wellington Education Board to theheadmastership of theNewtown School. The School Committee is not satisfied with the appointment, and a conference is to be held with the Board.
WANGANUI, December 8. % His Excellency the Governor is to visit Wanganui officially on Wednesday. The Wanganui Wesleyan District Synod passed resolutions denouncing the drink traffic and supporting the Anti-Gambling League.
INVERCARGILL, December 8. After a long spell of cloudy, cold, dripping weather, this district is enjoying steady sunshine, which* is bringing the crops away rapidly, while stock, are making up their leewuy now that there, is abundance of grass! Tlie agricultural outlook has never been brighter at this season of the year.
